About the role

Suguitan Financial Systems is a boutique consultancy specializing in application development within the financial services space. We partner closely with our clients to build high quality software that solves real business problems for our clients and their users.

We're looking for a Software Engineer to work directly with a banking client as part of an engineering team led by Suguitan Financial Systems. This is a software engineering role first: you write clean, well-tested code and are comfortable with a normal engineering workflow like version control, code review, and CI/CD. It's a great fit for an early to mid career engineer who wants to work closely with experienced mentors, sharpen their skills, and grow in a small, collaborative team.

Qualifications

  • 2 to 6 years of professional software engineering experience building and maintaining production code
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong proficiency in Python or another general purpose programming language, including writing automated tests
  • Comfortable with standard software engineering practices like version control, code review, and CI/CD
  • Working knowledge of SQL (MSSQL or PostgreSQL), used as a tool within larger software systems
  • Interested in learning workflow orchestration tools like Dagster or Airflow, cloud data platforms like Snowflake or Databricks, and dbt
  • Solid grasp of fundamental software engineering concepts and data structures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to pick up new technologies quickly

Primary responsibilities

  • Partner with product managers and engineers to plan and build data pipelines and infrastructure, treating them with the same rigor as any other production software
  • Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT workflows and orchestration using tools like Dagster or Airflow
  • Write and maintain automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and documentation for data systems
  • Work with technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, MSSQL or PostgreSQL, Python, and dbt
  • Review peer code, take feedback from teammates, and help maintain and raise engineering standards
